Anime Review: Chaos;Head

What we see is how we understand the world around us, it is how we interpret what is what and where it is. But if something where to happen where what we see is not actually correct, the human race would plummet into a world of disaster. Today the anime being reviewed is Chaos;Head, an anime that goes into a realm beyond our human sight. Chaos;Head takes place in modern day Japan, and focuses on main character, Takumi Nishijou, a frequent delusion suffering high school recluse who only wants to stay in his room to watch anime and play video games. Unfortunately for Takumi, he is exposed to a vicious murder scene caused from a new form of murder known as New Generation Madness or New Gen. for short. Now Takumi must differentiate delusions from reality as he must face the culprits and strange characters that meet him. this series has a very interesting plot with interesting characters to back it up. The dub is very exceptional because a good half of the characters are not voiced by A-list voice actors like some of FUNimation's other titles. Overall I award the series with a 8.2/10 for a series like this, the story really pulls you in as well as the characters, music, acting, and mystery within each episode.

Anime Review: Hellsing Ultimate

Imagine a great battle so monumental it shook the foundation of a whole country and left it scarred. A battle so powerful it took over ten years in the making. This battle can be beautifully encompassed into a singular title that emanates power without even trying. This title is none other than Hellsing Ultimate, a series filled with battle and chaos beyond anything any anime fan has seen in a very long time. This series is centered in London and follows the Hellsing Organization, a group that deals with the extermination of all supernatural threats to God and Christendom. This group is very special however from others, Hellsing employs vampires. Under Hellsing's arsenal is the mighty Alucard, a mighty count of darkness with power unimaginable. The other is Seras Victoria a young police girl turned draculina by Alucard. They are all led by the head of the organization, Sir Integra Fairbrook Wingates Hellsing, the descendant of Abraham Van Hellsing, the only human who was able to kill Alucard. This story is pure unadulterated chaos teeming with Vampires, Nazis, Catholic super warriors, and Madmen all battling one another for a different cause. Overall, the series deserves a spot on the shelf of any fan of vampires and the supernatural and I rate it an 8.9/10 the series is amazing and is a true masterpiece for a story that has existed for more than ten years.

Anime Review: Mysterious Girlfriend X

Most times in anime, romance series seem to be a dime a dozen with little to no difference in story or relationship between the characters. However, some series deviate from that trend and become something different. Today I will review Mysterious Girlfriend X, or as they say it in Japan, Nazo No Kanojo X. This series follows two main characters: Akira Tsubaki, a normal school boy with friends and family, and Mikoto Urabe, a mysterious new transfer student with a habit of sleeping in class and being antisocial. One day Tsubaki goes back to his school after forgetting something and comes across Urabe still sleeping on her desk, Tsubaki wakes her up and she leaves. Then, Tsubaki notices her desk has a puddle of her own drool still on it. For no apparent reason other than curiosity, Tsubaki dips his finger in the puddle and tastes it, finding it to be sweet, Tsubaki immediately runs out wondering why he did that. the next day Tsubaki becomes ill and is greeted at his house by Urabe who tells him that he is going through withdrawal and it will continue unless he tastes her drool again. This starts a relationship between the two that shows both of them more about one another. This series is a great deviant from the standard romance anime, however, the drool factor can act as a turn off to the series. Overall the series is awarded a 7.9/10 for any fan of cute romance between characters, this series truly delivers.

Anime Review: Steins;Gate

Many anime shows and their creators must be mindful and diligent about what is put into their work, especially with a topic as controversial as time travel. Like most stories outside of Japan that deal with time travel, the shows never truly dissolve into the true science behind it. This leaves a gap in time travel series that time travel anime can fill. Today the subject is Steins;Gate, an anime that not only advertises time travel, but truly delivers it. This story focuses on the main character Rintaro Okabe or his alter ego, the great, Hououin Kyoma and his two lab assistants Mayuri and Daru, as they venture into the task of creating a time machine to rule the world, however, all they have is a supped up microwave. The story takes a big kickstart when Okabe discovers, after some strange alterations, that the microwave is a time machine and attracts the attention of many who hear of it. This series introduces many time travel terms and ideas like world lines, the butterfly effect, paradoxes and more into the story and uses them to the series's advantage. One of the major selling points of the series is the chemistry each character has with one another, from a tsundere connection, to a hopeless love interest, to a feeling of protectiveness, to even a mutual discomfort to one another. Another strong point is the beautiful story telling and twists that come with this series. Overall, in my opinion Steins;Gate receives a stunning 9/10 this is a really great story that when watched completely hooks you in and leaves you applauding, I recommend any anime fan buys this series because it truly deserves to be on any anime fan's shelf.

Anime Review: Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods

Today I will be reviewing an anime movie, one that is truly a special movie. This film has become the  eighteenth movie in the Dragon Ball universe and has become the first anime movie to hit U.S. theaters since films like Akira, Ponyo, and Yugioh: The Movie, were released. This film is also the first Dragon Ball movie whose story is actually in the manga. This movie takes place during a short lived peace after Majin Buu's defeat at the hands of Goku. a great and powerful deity named Beerus the destroyer, a god of destruction, awakens prematurely from his fifty year slumber and is informed a Saiyan has defeated Frieza. Intrigued by this news and curious about a dream he had while asleep, where he battles against a "Super Saiyan God", Beerus decides to go to Earth to find the Super Saiyan god. This film brings all the lovable Dragon Ball universe characters back with the original english voice actors reprising their roles. Other famous voice actors make their appearance, like Jason Douglass(Psycho-Pass, Black Butler II, Elfen Lied) as Lord Beerus, and Ian Sinclair(Black Butler, Future Diary, Hetalia: Axis Powers) as Beerus's aid, Whis. This film is really a cut above the rest of the Dragon Ball Z movies, this film provides stunning animation quality, visually appealing special effects, and a fully original story with plenty of excitement. This movie receives a 7.8/10 and deserves a buy from any Dragon Ball Z fan. For those who are not, try it anyway, you might be pleasantly surprised.

Anime Review: Kill la Kill

From the creators of Gurren Lagann, comes their new hit anime which I personally love called Kill la  Kill. This anime is similar to Gurren in many ways but still holds its own originality and is not just a cheap knock-off of Gurren. Kill la Kill focuses on its Main Character Ryuko Matoi, a vagrant teenage schoolgirl looking for her father's killer. She comes across a school built like a kingdom known as Honnouji academy, which is led by the student council president, Satsuki Kiryuin, who Ryuko believes is the killer. The anime follows Ryuko's adventures in Honnouji academy with her friend Mako, as she battles various foes from the school with her powerful Kamui uniform, Senketsu, for an opportunity to face Satsuki in a fight and find out if Satsuki killed Ryuko's father. This anime definitely deserves to be watched, its a great story with even greater characters. This series has 24 episodes and only about 5 episodes are dubbed in English, though the sub for the show is great. I give the show a 7.8/10. Check out episode 1 and see if you like it.

Anime Review: Psycho-Pass

There are many crime drama anime that have become legendary, anime such as Death Note, Ghost In The Shell, and Cased Closed. This anime is no exception to the trend. The anime is Psycho-Pass and the word to describe it is amazing. Psycho-Pass is a Futuristic crime-drama set in a world where scanners are placed within the city to monitor citizen's "Psycho-Pass" and "Crime-Coefficient" which are color and number scales used to determine the likelihood that someone will commit a crime or how guilty they are, these values are determined and set by a fictional system known as the Sibyl System. In this world there are few crimes committed, but when they are, they are handled by the Ministry of Welfare Public Safety Bureau (MWPSB), a police group made of Inspectors that take the case to find the criminal, and enforcers, latent criminals that are recruited by the MWPSB to weed out  criminals and bring them to Justice. The series has two seasons, season 1 is 22 episodes long and is dubbed in english, season 2 has episodes out to watch in Japanese with English subtitles but has not been dubbed in English yet.
