Anime Review: Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods

Today I will be reviewing an anime movie, one that is truly a special movie. This film has become the  eighteenth movie in the Dragon Ball universe and has become the first anime movie to hit U.S. theaters since films like Akira, Ponyo, and Yugioh: The Movie, were released. This film is also the first Dragon Ball movie whose story is actually in the manga. This movie takes place during a short lived peace after Majin Buu's defeat at the hands of Goku. a great and powerful deity named Beerus the destroyer, a god of destruction, awakens prematurely from his fifty year slumber and is informed a Saiyan has defeated Frieza. Intrigued by this news and curious about a dream he had while asleep, where he battles against a "Super Saiyan God", Beerus decides to go to Earth to find the Super Saiyan god. This film brings all the lovable Dragon Ball universe characters back with the original english voice actors reprising their roles. Other famous voice actors make their appearance, like Jason Douglass(Psycho-Pass, Black Butler II, Elfen Lied) as Lord Beerus, and Ian Sinclair(Black Butler, Future Diary, Hetalia: Axis Powers) as Beerus's aid, Whis. This film is really a cut above the rest of the Dragon Ball Z movies, this film provides stunning animation quality, visually appealing special effects, and a fully original story with plenty of excitement. This movie receives a 7.8/10 and deserves a buy from any Dragon Ball Z fan. For those who are not, try it anyway, you might be pleasantly surprised.

Anime Review: Kill la Kill

From the creators of Gurren Lagann, comes their new hit anime which I personally love called Kill la  Kill. This anime is similar to Gurren in many ways but still holds its own originality and is not just a cheap knock-off of Gurren. Kill la Kill focuses on its Main Character Ryuko Matoi, a vagrant teenage schoolgirl looking for her father's killer. She comes across a school built like a kingdom known as Honnouji academy, which is led by the student council president, Satsuki Kiryuin, who Ryuko believes is the killer. The anime follows Ryuko's adventures in Honnouji academy with her friend Mako, as she battles various foes from the school with her powerful Kamui uniform, Senketsu, for an opportunity to face Satsuki in a fight and find out if Satsuki killed Ryuko's father. This anime definitely deserves to be watched, its a great story with even greater characters. This series has 24 episodes and only about 5 episodes are dubbed in English, though the sub for the show is great. I give the show a 7.8/10. Check out episode 1 and see if you like it.

Anime Review: Psycho-Pass

There are many crime drama anime that have become legendary, anime such as Death Note, Ghost In The Shell, and Cased Closed. This anime is no exception to the trend. The anime is Psycho-Pass and the word to describe it is amazing. Psycho-Pass is a Futuristic crime-drama set in a world where scanners are placed within the city to monitor citizen's "Psycho-Pass" and "Crime-Coefficient" which are color and number scales used to determine the likelihood that someone will commit a crime or how guilty they are, these values are determined and set by a fictional system known as the Sibyl System. In this world there are few crimes committed, but when they are, they are handled by the Ministry of Welfare Public Safety Bureau (MWPSB), a police group made of Inspectors that take the case to find the criminal, and enforcers, latent criminals that are recruited by the MWPSB to weed out  criminals and bring them to Justice. The series has two seasons, season 1 is 22 episodes long and is dubbed in english, season 2 has episodes out to watch in Japanese with English subtitles but has not been dubbed in English yet. I give this series an 8/10 and personally recommend this to any anime fan. Check out episode 1 and  let me know what you think in the comment section of the blog, enjoy.

Anime Review: Mirai Nikki (The Future Diary)

Of all the anime i've watched there has always been endings that stuck with me, and I usually end up having something about the ending I wish could have happened differently. This anime however, is definitely an exception, today I will review the anime Mirai Nikki, otherwise known as, The Future Diary. This story focuses on two main characters, one is Yukiteru Amano, a small wimpy boy who finds himself with no friends and a terrible family life. The other is Yuno Gasai, a beautiful young girl with an enormous obsession with Yukiteru, or "Yuki" for short. These two characters as well as ten other characters are locked in a survival game to the death with the reward being the ability to be God. The weapon used primarily in this game is the "Future Diary", a setting on the players phones which gives  them details about the future with the phrase "DEAD END" meaning death to the player. This series is grade A story, characters, and animation. This story is mostly sad with some comedy thrown in which gives Mirai Nikki a Fullmetal Alchemist/Elfen Lied tone. The series though does have its happy moments or "HAPPY ENDs". Overall I give this series an 9 out of 10, I personally recommend any anime fan watch this show. Check out episode 1 in the link below and let me know what you think, thank you very much.

Anime Review: Another

What pray tell, qualifies as a mystery, must there be questions that have not been solved yet, or do they all get tied up at the end or near the middle of the story. The anime I am reviewing today is not only a mystery but a horror mystery. The story is called "Another" and it focuses on two main protagonists, Koichi Sakakibara, a 15 year old transfer student with a collapsed lung. The other character is Mei Misaki, a mysterious girl with an eyepatch on her left eye. This story focuses on these two characters as well as a few other students who are trying to stop a mysterious curse that has plagued the school for generations. Overall, the story, as a mystery story, is a pretty solid hit in my opinion and is awarded with a 7.5/10, I feel this story is a real sleeper hit, and definitely should be watched. You can watch the first episode with the link below. Hope you guys like it.

Anime Review: Blue Exorcist

Today's anime review is for a series that is probably on most anime fans favorite list, I'm referring to Kazue Kato's Blue Exorcist. For those of you who have not heard of this anime or have not watched it, this story revolves around a boy named Rin Okumura, a boy with fangs and a real fiery temper. by the end of episode 1, you find out that Rin is actually a demon, but not just any demon, but the son of Satan himself. The series has 25 episodes, 1 OVA, and a movie, although I myself have not finished the series yet I am a huge fan and cannot get enough of the show. This Anime has a proper mix of dark horror, action, humor, and suspense to leave any anime fan wanting more. I personally recommend this anime to any anime fan who is interested. Check out the link to the first episode if your interested.

Anime Monday: What if battle: Claymore vs. Attack On Titan

Today on Anime Monday I want to ask anime fans a question that has been buzzing in my head for months who would win in a fight, an army of Claymores or an army of Titans. For those of you who do not know one or the other just keep reading.

        Claymores

      Higher ranked claymores can move
their swords faster than the human eye
      can see

Possess enhanced agility, strength, speed, and
          reflexes

Can regenerate from seemingly fatal wounds

Can unleash their yoki power to increase
            their physical abilities

Can be killed if beheaded or if their bodies are completely
              destroyed

         Titans

Sizes range from 3-15 meters tall

    Possess incredible strength

Special variant type can run or walk quickly

    Titan shifters contain intelligence

Can be killed from a proper slash to the back
    of the neck

Attack On Titan to air on Toonami and Opening Poll: Anime Monday

Before I start anime monday I would like to ask all Attack on Titan fans a question:
If you got the option, would you use the original Attack on Titan opening theme for the english dub, or would you use the english dub opening theme for it?

Book of Murder and two Attack on Titan films: Anime Monday

For my first Anime Monday, I would like to address all the Black Butler fans out there and ask you all a question, how many of you would like to see a new adaptation to the series? for all of you who said yes I have good news that you may or may not have heard about. Black Butler will have a new series following after Black Butler II in terms of chronological order. This new series will be called Kuroshitsuji Book Of Murder and will be based off of the Noah's Ark Circus arc. Even though this is a new series, the original characters that fans (including myself) all know and love. The date for the series has not been announced but, an OVA called Book of Murder as been scheduled to hit theaters in Japan in fall 2014.

Now for the Attack on Titan fans (once again myself included), this series has been given the green light to start two animated films that will basically summarize the whole series in two films. The first film will cover episodes 1 through 13 and the second will cover episodes 14 through 25. The first  film will be called Attack on Titan I Crimson Bow and Arrow, and the second will be called Attack on Titan II Wings of Freedom. And if that's not good enough, both films will have the original Japanese voice actors for Eren, Mikasa, and Armin. And that's all I have for everyone today thanks for reading and stay on this page every monday for new Anime Monday news.

Anime Review: Vampire Hunter D Bloodlust

This is the second film of the Vampire Hunter D franchise and follows the main character D, a Dhampir (half human, half vampire), hunting his own kind for a high price. This film, I must say is really a refreshing visual feast, it possesses many different exciting and gripping parts with stunning animation. The storyline was good however most people who have seen this movie agree that the 1985 film (the first film) had a better storyline, but this one was pretty solid. Its use of animation style, music choice, and action choreography make for excellent scenes in an incredible piece of film. The character design is also amazing when compared to the 1985 version. D's character design severely improved, going from the 1985 blue outfit with brown hair, to the black outfit with black hair, which was more like how the graphic novel describes him. More information is also added in this film about subjects that were not covered in the first film, like the classification of D's left hand. This film in my opinion, gets, on a scale from 1 to 10,

an 8.9.

The Colossal Hit: Attack On Titan

You may or may not have heard of this anime, but if you haven't  this is definitely something worth looking into. The story describes a world inhabited by humans and giant man-eating humanoid creatures called titans. Humans were forced to barricade themselves into three giant walls to escape the titans' wrath. The anime has 25 episodes in its first season and has become the biggest anime of 2013-14. The series is right now only in Japanese, but an English dubbing of the first episode will premiere at Anime Boston in March 21-23. This anime is definitely worth watching and is epic from episode to episode. Be the next viewer of the growing anime phenomenon known as Attack On Titan.
